How important is it for you to retain your cultural foods as you move forward in life? Explain the importance and which foods you cannot live without.

Prompt Response:  I think it is extremely important to retain my cultural foods because I don't want future generations to forget where they came from. Another reason is because I believe and will always believe that food unites families. My family and I all come together for Christmas dinner because we never see each other any other day. For me and my family food is love we have also always believed a man can get married to you because of how you cook. Our traditional food also tells stories. There are also some foods that we remember based on stories. Summary: We had to do a presentation on our traditional foods. Reflection:   We had to do a presentation on our traditional foods. What they signified to us and when we eat them.

What is the most important aspect of your identiy? Tell what it is and why

Prompt Response:  I think the most important aspect of my identity is my culture. I think my culture is important because it is tied to my beliefs even though everyone's beliefs are different I think culture is a big part of your identity because it can define what food, clothes, and behaviors you like. Culture is something big because it can impact what you like what you eat and how you behave and also it can impact how you talk because there is a lot of languages that is why people are so different from one another. Summary: We had to make a mask based on our culture but I was not in class today Reflection:  I was not in class today.

How would you feel if your privacy was invaded online or on your phone? Do you think privacy is a basic civil liberty?

Prompt Response:   I think privacy is something we should all have because we all have things we don't want people to know it may be good things and there may be some that are bad. Sometimes people may want to go through our things to see something but I don't think that is right everyone should be able to have their own secrets the only way someone may go through your phone is if they have a legal paper saying they can do so. I don't think everyone should be able to go through your phone and mostly if they don't have your permission there should be a law based on privacy.  Summary: Today Mr. Rease  gave us more time to work on the commic strip. Reflection:   Today Mr. Rease  gave us more time to work on the commic strip.

Describe what you did over the winter break (use at least 5 words from Vocabulary Lesson 10 in your paragraph)

Prompt Response:   During the week I know it would be imminent for me to take a very long nap so that is what I did. I also cleaned my whole house there were some things that were immutable but I changed everything else. Even though I was impecunious it didn't matter to me because I was just in my house and there was no need for me to go to the store because I had everything I needed right there and then. The only thing that was imperative was food and we already had enough of that in the fridge. Overall during the break all I did was nothing but the worst part of the break was that I got sick but I went to church and I really importuned for God to heal me and I think it worked because I am all better now. Summary: We had to work on a commic strip and include vocabulary words in it.  Reflection:  We had to make a commic strip where we had to make a little story and include some vocabulary words in it. It had to have color and everything was supposed to be well organi...

Describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about.

Prompt Response:  I think the person I most care about is my grandfather he is a strong man and for me he has always been there. My grandfather tells me what I should do and what is wrong he is like my second father he has always guided me through life. Even though my grandfather has had a though life he always  gets through it and if we were to spend a life together I would take him shopping for some clothes, shoes, and other  necessities  he may have. After that I would take him to eat and then after the dinner I would take him for a very long walk to just talk about life I know he would make some jokes about everything but it does not matter what does matter is spending time together because for me he is the best grandfather I could have ever had. I have watched him be a good father, grandfather, and husband. Now he may not be so good because of his health but that does not stop him from doing what he wants to do. Summary:We had to make a presentation about...

What is your American Dream? What do you like most about America?

Prompt Response:   Many American dreams are of having the perfect life but I believe not everything is going to come by itself you have to work hard for it. My American dream was to work very hard and own my own house, car, and my own restaurant or bakery but with time I understood I had to work hard in order to get what I wanted. I understood some time ago that I would have to be tired to have that dream come true nothing comes by itself you have to work for it. You also have to know what you really want in order to have the life you want. I want to be able to retire my parents because I believe that they have worked enough for me and my siblings. Now it is my time to make my American dream come true because if I don't do it for myself nobody else is going to do it for me. Summary:Today we read a poem about the American Dream. Reflection:  The poem we read today was about the American dream and how everyone has a different prospective of what it really is. Probably not...

Describe a time when someone offended you with their words.

Prompt Response:  There has been many times when someone has offended me but the worst time was when I had gone to work to a women's house ( My job was cleaning her house) and I took some time to eat an apple because I was too tired. The women then came and started screaming at me because I was not done cleaning and I was already eating and taking a break. I tried to explain to her that I was just eating an apple and that then I would get back to cleaning her house. The women didn't seem to care and she offended me saying I was a lazy Mexican girl and she didn't know why I didn't go back  to my country. I responded back by saying I was an American Citizen and that I would not be here if her house was clean and she wasn't such a messy person. After I had responded to her I left her house half clean because I didn't think I should be there just letting her offend me. Summary:I am not sure what we did today because I was not there Reflection:  Don't let anyone ...

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response:  Some skills I have learned in high school are doing your work and not leaving it for later because it can cause you to fall behind. Another skill is responsibility this will help me all through out life because you not only need this in school you also need this for your job for making payments on time for paying off your debts and other things as well. Many skills are essential for life but being on time is key for everything this will avoid you lots of problems in the real world because you have to be on time to get to your job to pay your bills like rent, telephone bills, and probably even the water bill. Even though sometimes we are not prepared for the real world we still have to learn how to live life because if we don't we will struggle a lot living it. Summary:  learning life skills in high school is important. Reflection: Sometimes no one will tell you what to do and you will have to figure things out by yourself.

It's Super Bowl weekend! Some people watch the Super Bowl for football, others for the commercials, and some just for the halftime show. What’s your favorite part of big events like this, and why?

Prompt Response:  Even though the Super Bowl has a lot of fans I am not one of them. This is because I was never raised watching or practicing any type of sport. Even though I regret that because I believe I should have been more physically active when I was a child and would be more physically active now as a teenager. There has only been one time that I have watched a commercial of the super bowl and that was in 8th grade. The commercial was very convincing and very funny we used it so that we could learn a little bit more about pie.  Summary:Even though I have never seen the super bowl I have watched some commercials for educational purposes. Reflection:  I don´t watch any sports.

What do you think are your biggest strengths as a speaker? What challenges do you face when presenting in front of an audience?

Prompt Response:  As a speaker you have a lot of strengths like having everyone's attention. Another strength is having confidence and knowledge of your topic this is because at the time of your presentation you have to know what you are talking about to not give any false information this is why you should always research your topic. As there can be strengths there can also be challenges like getting nervous and forgetting what you were going to say this is something that can be easily fixed by improvising. This is because the audience was not knowledgeable of what you were going to say next. You should use your advantages and fix your disadvantages by preparing for your presentation. Summary:People should always prepare ahead of time for their presentations to run smoothly. Reflection:  As there can be many advantages there can also be many disadvantages.

If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

Prompt Response:  If I were to make a poem about myself I believe it would take me a very long time just because I would not know what to write about but after thinking for a moment I think I would come up with a topic. I think my poem would be about how hard life is and how I didn't expect it to be this way. Even though I am only 16 I still would remember what I expected from life I expected it to at least be easy during my child and teenage years but it was the complete opposite. I think it was not what I expected because there are many struggles and not only that you have to be more mature there is always a lot of stress either from school, work, or home. As you grow older you have to learn how to handle this in a good way. Sometimes your plans don't go as you want but you have to learn to live with that and with your mistakes and sometimes life isn't going to be fair. Summary: We had to do a poem based on a Lesson before dying. Reflection:  Life isn't going to be ...

Describe a time when you had to speak in front of an audience. What were your fears? How did you handle them? What advice would you give to someone struggling with stage fright?

Prompt Response:   When you start going to school there will always be times where you have to present your project, talk about your weekend , break, or something you have done, or even debate in front of an audience. This year in my 5th period class we were practicing giving speeches I started to get a lot better but when it was time to read them in front of the audience I got extremely nervous. Something that helped me a lot during this was to lightly stab my pencil in my leg this was because I would notice I would concentrate more on the pencil than on getting nervous. Something I would recommend to someone talking in front of people would be to stay calm and remember to take your time so that the audience understands you and enjoys your presentation.  Summary: I was not in class but I think we took notes. Reflection:   If you  are about to present in front of an audience always remember to stay calm, breath, and enjoy what you are doing.
